A useless extravaganza called 'The Bride Show'

These camels in the camel land are really really stupid - this time I say this out loud for their 'oh so evident' love for all things larger than life...!

Last evening me and my family went to 'The Bride Show' in Abu Dhabi - especially held in the land of super rich sheikh's, as my mom got into the excitement of the impending wedding planning!

I'm totally sure that anyone that has some sense or doesn't have the world's oil money stacked up in there bank account will leave this place 5 mins after entering the venue and will surely put off getting married in this place or totally give up the idea of getting married! :D

Even as a self confessed shop-o-holic I assign a slightly over priced value to each item BUT then 300,000 DHS ( Multiply that by 10 to get it's value in Indian rupees!) for a solid ice sculpture center stage piece is surely whole surely a lot of money for 7 gallons of water!!!

And if that's not all, an additional 10,000 - 1 million dirhams for flower arrangements all over the wedding venue! And the exhibitor mentioned that I cannot keep the lovely Paris imported vases and the melting ice water from the center piece sculptor, but then I can take home all of the flowers... (to keep whr?)

The invites start from around 50 dirhams per piece and if that isn't enough we would feed and entertain our guests (Unfortunately I couldn't get an estimate for the band baaja/ light music thingy), we also needed to give them take away gifts for gracing our wedding with their presence - those gifts starts from 15 dhs to 10,000 dhs...

At this point my dad was reluctant to proceed any further and excused himself for a breather... Did I mention that he went away clutching my mom's and my bag tightly in a freaked out state... Awwww poor dad! :)) :P :P

As I ventured further, I saw the costliest wedding gown displayed for a million dirhams...but if your beaus and daddy's are that fortunate you an still rent one of these less costlier gowns for just one day from only 80,000 + or minimum 5000 dhs....

If you had already spent the above spent amount it surely won't hurt you anymore to spend on the make up - starting 3000 dhs and spa starting 8000 and jewellery - do I really need to put a figure in here... check the gold price on today's paper and fill in accordingly!

Oh btw I also saw some stalls of plastic surgeons marking up noses of some bakri's to lay stash out another 50,000 bucks...

After the 3 hr leg breaking, jaw dropping tour of 'The Bride Show' a less enthused dad simply wanted me and Mr. Curious to elope and our respective parents would bless us through a email... :))

I sure won't blame him... At least he wanted to still get me married away! ;)

***

To Whomsoever it may concern,

I
seriously don't wanna spend so much on all these non important things in my marriage...
I don't wanna call 500 ppl that I don't know to witness it...
I don't want 10 pattu podavai's which I would hardly wear ever after that...
I don't wanna see food being wasted and lying in heaps outside in the garbage bin...
I don't wanna see petty fights on which athai is more important to my family or which mama wasn't seated on the first pandhi...
I seriously don't want and larger than life affair around this...
Oh and btw... Most importantly I don't wanna look like Jo in the climax scene of chandramukhi!!! :-s

Ok?
